A Digital currency in which encryption techniques are used to regulate the generations of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds , operating independentely of a central bank.

The first digital currency was Bitcoin . Bitcoin was created in 2009 by a pseudonymous developer name Satoshi Nakamoto.
